Every year on Remembrance Day, the rainbow poppy makes an annual appearance and stirs controversy on the internet, despite it not existing and not being sold on Canadian retailers. It’s a customized poppy which people can purchase on their own to honour those of the LGBTQ+ community that have lost their lives fighting.
There are other colour poppy’s to represent honour and respect besides the red poppy, examples below.

B.C Humanist, Ranil Prasad said ”As humanitarians, we believe that Remembrance Day has become somewhat militarized in in the in recent years.” He believes that the poppy should be worn in any way to show your respect to those that have fallen and to honour them.

Despite the rainbow poppy not being sold for purchase on any retailer in Canada, there have been people custom making their own and selling it online through eCommerce websites such as eBay.
The rainbow was made to honour the fallen soldiers that fall under the LGBTQ+ category that weren’t able to fully be open and still fought in the wars and to commemorate them, some people wear the rainbow poppy. It isn’t part of the main category of poppy’s that have their own symbolism but every year, around Remembrance Day, it creates internet controversy to those who are for the poppy and those who are not.
