With so many social distancing measures due to COVID-19, some restaurants in Victoria, B.C. implemented cool and unique ways to continue operating their businesses.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Canada, many local food businesses were affected across the country.
Local governments implemented their own measures regarding how restaurants could operate, including how many people could dine-in, if any at all.
In Western Canada, restaurants have had to change the ways they operated throughout the pandemic, whether that was only allowing takeout and delivery or temporarily shutting down operations.
Some local food businesses in Victoria, B.C. have found unique ways to overcome the challenges and face the pandemic head on.

Parachute Ice Cream has a social distancing booth where customers individually go in to make their order.
With the social distancing booth, customers are isolated from others, allowing a safe ordering experience. Customers will stand on an “X” in the booth where they can make their order.

During the pandemic, healthcare workers have been working continuously on the frontlines trying to bring the curve down and save lives. One Victoria-based bakery wanted to show their appreciation for these heroes.
Fol Epi is a local patisserie and cafe which makes its customers socially distance outside of the shop and sanitize before entering. They are also offering a 20 per cent discount for all health workers during the pandemic.
One more local food business which has implemented something new during the pandemic is Ruth & Dean.
You can find their single serving “Isolation Cakes” which are made to be eaten by one person, perfect for your self-isolation cravings.
