Subway restaurants are donating a meal to Food Banks Canada for every sandwich and 21 oz. drink sold on Nov. 3, the day Subway has declared as World Sandwich Day.
“Hunger in Canada is something that needs to change and something that can change,” said Cristina Wells, senior marketing director for Subway Canada. “For World Sandwich Day, we are trying to help end hunger in Canada by donating a meal to Food Banks Canada for every meal we sell today.”

Last year, Subway restaurants donated more than 500,000 meals to hunger initiatives across the world.
“This year, we are hoping to donate the monetary equivalent of one million meals to food banks around the globe, and we are well on our way,” said Wells.
There is an increased need for food banks in Canada, according to Mimi Lowi-Young, interim executive director of Food Banks Canada.
“Canadian individuals and families are benefiting more than ever from food initiatives, and we are thrilled that Subway’s initiative is returning this year,” said Lowi-Young.
